RSS is seeking a part-time Licensed Mental Health Clinician to be a part of our newly launched Safe Options Support (SOS) team, dedicated to providing comprehensive care to homeless individuals. You will be responsible for community outreach, coordinating participants’ needs, enhancing their daily living skills, providing supportive counseling, and advocating on their behalf. Our team follows the highly acclaimed Critical Time Intervention model, focusing on member choice, harm reduction, flexibility, and person-centered care.

In addition to working in the community on weekdays, this role may require periodic on-call coverage and a willingness to work flexible hours. You will have the chance to transform community healthcare in the Southern Tier and support homeless individuals in their journey towards stability, independence, and well-being.

To qualify for this position, you must have a licensed master’s degree or higher in social work, mental health counseling, nursing, psychology, or CASAC. We will also consider candidates with an MSW who are working towards licensure and have experience working with homeless individuals.

Your responsibilities will include persistent and assertive outreach, collaborating with street outreach teams and local police precincts, conducting assessments, providing short-term therapeutic counseling, supervising case managers and peers, collecting data, resolving clinical issues, navigating appointments, and facilitating crisis interventions, among other duties.

Preferred qualifications include experience working with homeless populations and knowledge of homeless resources in the Southern Tier. You should have a strong understanding of counseling principles, mental illness, and substance use disorders. Proficiency in Health Information Technology and Microsoft applications is also required.

This position will require travel throughout Tioga and Tompkins counties.
