OUR MISSION
Founded in 1979, Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc. (RSS) provides community-based mental health services in 12 upstate NY counties. Our mission is to enrich and empower the lives of individuals by providing services and opportunities for meaningful emotional, social, vocational and educational growth. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities through housing, work, treatment, socialization, and wellness services.
- RSS operates 1009 residential beds of which 274 are licensed congregate treatment (in 24 group homes ranging in size from 8 -14 beds), 246 are licensed apartment treatment, and 489 are supported housing.
- On 10/2/2009 RSS had 490 full and part-time employees, excluding client-trainees and respite workers. On that date, 216 client-trainees were employed by RSS, all of whom are paid at or above minimum wages.
- RSS paid out nearly $800,000 in client wages in 2008.
- RSS hospitalization reports have shown that for every 1000 days of licensed residential service, approximately 2 days are spent in an inpatient setting.
